Women of InfoComm Network at a Local Level
Building a successful network requires a commitment from every member to take action and proactively help build a supportive community. Each one of us can do this at a local level. Reconnecting once or twice a year at industry shows is great, but it does not build strong community.
The mission of the Women of InfoComm Network (WIN) is to provide a global community of InfoComm members and other professionals committed to supporting and empowering women who work in the technology and AV industry.
I know that many of you are planning to attend the Women of InfoComm Network breakfast at the 2017 InfoComm Show in Orlando. InfoComm has seen a growing number of attendees at this event each year and the upcoming breakfast will be our fifth!
If you enjoy the events at the InfoComm and ISE shows, consider how to get involved at a local level. There are WIN meetings beginning to form at which you can interact on a quarterly basis. Members are stepping in and stepping up — they are getting involved. This is necessary to improve the Women of InfoComm Network.
To be successful, these local meetings need the help of members who are willing to sponsor, deliver topics and offer ideas to improve. We are all busy — we all have many opportunities to network. This is an opportunity to build a local community aimed at helping women advance, grow, make new connections and reach their highest potential.
If you do not have a group in your local area, consider volunteering to start one. Starting one is easy and many members are willing to help.
