Largest Lunch & Tour Held at Pennsylvania Convention Center

Largest Lunch & Tour Held at Pennsylvania Convention Center

InfoComm partnered with Acentech, AVI-SPL, Biamp and Chief to host a 2-hour technology lunch and tour of the newly renovated Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia on July 14, 2011.

The event is the latest in InfoComm’s Lunch & Tour series aimed at audiovisual industry outreach to architects. Architects were treated to an hour panel presentation from expert panelists who were involved in the audiovisual installation for the Pennsylvania Convention Center from inception through completion. Following the presentation, architects were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the latest technology installed at the Convention Center. Highlights of the tour included digital signage innovations in meeting rooms and the grand entrance, the AV control room, a state of the art digital recording room and an integrated emergency PA system throughout the building. The event was attended by 43 Philadelphia area architects, which makes it the largest InfoComm Lunch & Tour to date. InfoComm continues to be an AIA cornerstone partner and attendees earned two AIA/CES Learning Units. InfoComm is grateful to its member companies who are willing to partner together for outreach programs showcasing the best our industry has to offer.

Philadelphia Findings

Philadelphia Findings

Greetings from the city of brotherly love – and there is plenty of love for InfoComm today with more than 50 members in attendance at our fourth roundtable of the year.

Before the roundtable, my morning was spent walking what seemed like miles and miles of floor at the brand new Pennsylvania Convention Center and checking out a spot for the next InfoComm Lunch & Tour. Digital signage, integrated sound systems and a façade that lights up to feature, among other things, the American flag — this expansion is sure to wow with the latest cutting edge audiovisual trends. The space features InfoComm members throughout – AVI-SPL, Acentech, Chief and Biamp all have a hand in this new installation and will be a part of the panel discussion at the Lunch & Tour this July. InfoComm is out and about in more ways than one and I encourage each of you to attend an InfoComm event in your neighborhood soon!

Centreville, Va. Architect Lunch & Tour

Centreville, Va. Architect Lunch & Tour

Every year, InfoComm presents Architect Lunch & Tours to share story of AV’s impact on audiences ranging from baseball fans and theater-goers to students and executives. It’s an effective way to showcase the best of the best in terms of AV. Architects get a new perspective on the technology they often like to hide, and AV consultants and integrators get the chance to explain why they need to be at the design table to determine the right-size screen for the room or allow more space to provide sound isolation between adjacent spaces.

This week InfoComm was joined by 36 architects and building professionals at the new Korean Central Presbyterian Church in Centreville, VA. Thirty-five miles of cable support an astounding amount of high-end presentation technologies designed to attract a large audience. They also saw line arrays in the main sanctuary, which accommodates 5,000 people every Sunday. The sound is excellent – with 408 speakers spread throughout a campus that includes a multi-purpose room (gym), a second chapel for English services and weddings, classrooms, a café and a bookstore. InfoComm is grateful Design & Integration for sharing this case study and to our member sponsors for making these education events possible: Biamp, Chief, Kramer, Listen and MediaSite by SonicFoundry. If only more consultants and integrators would share their stories, we might convert even more architects to work with an AV professional and enjoy great sound.
