Greetings from Miami, the land of sun, boats and great InfoComm members attending the InfoComm Roundtable. After hearing me talk about the State of the Industry the range of generations in the room were all interested in hearing Peggy O’Keefe, Adjunct Professor, New York University and Baruch College, tell us we can all work together. Speaking on Generations in the Workplace, we took a look at the five generations in the work force today and the aspects of managing such a diverse group. Interesting presentation and great discussion!
Every year, InfoComm presents Architect Lunch & Tours to share story of AV’s impact on audiences ranging from baseball fans and theater-goers to students and executives. It’s an effective way to showcase the best of the best in terms of AV. Architects get a new perspective on the technology they often like to hide, and AV consultants and integrators get the chance to explain why they need to be at the design table to determine the right-size screen for the room or allow more space to provide sound isolation between adjacent spaces.
This week InfoComm was joined by 36 architects and building professionals at the new Korean Central Presbyterian Church in Centreville, VA. Thirty-five miles of cable support an astounding amount of high-end presentation technologies designed to attract a large audience. They also saw line arrays in the main sanctuary, which accommodates 5,000 people every Sunday. The sound is excellent – with 408 speakers spread throughout a campus that includes a multi-purpose room (gym), a second chapel for English services and weddings, classrooms, a café and a bookstore. InfoComm is grateful Design & Integration for sharing this case study and to our member sponsors for making these education events possible: Biamp, Chief, Kramer, Listen and MediaSite by SonicFoundry. If only more consultants and integrators would share their stories, we might convert even more architects to work with an AV professional and enjoy great sound.
Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) attracted 34,870 attendees last week! With 715 exhibitors (10% more than last year) and lots of great new programs, the year is off to a great start! Congratulations to the Integrated Systems Events team and to our show co-owner, CEDIA. (more…)
